Reviews/Feedback:
Zocor, 10mg, lowered my cholesterol from 253 to 160. I do follow a very healthy diet of vegetables, fruit, good fats etc. and my blood work amazes the doctors since I am 67. However, the only test that is borderline is my liver function. I'm told that's not a problem. I personally feel more research needs to be done in this area, relating to this drug and what problems it might present in future health.
Zocor seems to work fine, in combination My doctor prescribed 40mg of Zocor for me (my Ldl was 212, Hdl was around 55, total cholesterol 303). I started it, and immediately started having muscle cramping. Then I read this wonderful book called "WHAT YOU MUST KNOW ABOUT STATIN DRUGS AND THEIR NATURAL ALTERNATIVES" by Jay Cohen, M.D., which I recommend above and beyond any specific remedy for high cholesterol for the amazing information it contains.
I immediately cut back my Zocor to 20mg and then to 10mg based on Dr. Cohen's "less is more" approach to beginning statin treatment. I also began to take Co-Q10 (50mg softgel), policosanol 10mg from sugar cane, continued taking fish oil, and began to incorporate plant sterols into my diet (Benecol, Cholesterol Success, etc.). I also began doing cardio exercise 3X/week (1/2 hour on an elliptical trainer), in addition to a weekly dance class.
Not quite two months later, my cholesterol tested in the "optimal" range. Total=192, Hdl=65, Ldl=93! I honestly don't know whether I can attribute all of it to any of the individual remedies or the combination, but I am very happy with the results.
I still have very minor muscle twinges from the Zocor, mostly a tingling feeling in one shoulder, but it is not too bothersome. I may try to go off the Zocor in a year and see whether the other remedies can keep it under control, but we'll see.
Zocor lowered my cholesterol from the 250 range down to 180, so I am happy about that. Side effects are tolerable, but I have had some. They include mild heart racing and palpitations within the 4 hours of taking, occasional cold sweats and calf muscle cramps. I have started to take the medicine at bedtime, so the side effects are less noticeable. I already have some heart rhythm issues, so it may not be as pronounced in others.
Zocor I take it to help with MS
Zocor helps me avoid muscle pain in legs My doc started me out on Lipitor but I had cramping in my calves. After switching to Zocor, I haven't had any trouble and my overall cholesterol dropped from 242 to 180 with just 10 mg. Recently, the pharmacy gave me a generic and I had muscle cramps within a week - but no elevated creatine levels. Back to Zocor and all is well.
Zocor and high cholesterol Began using this product at the onset of a heart attack. Level was 446 when I started. 310 the last level taken. Could probably have gotten it down more but man, I just go with greasy hamburgers and fries... chili dogs and all those good/bad sort of foods. If a person could follow what a dietician says it might be better. I couldn't. When I quit going to the one that was prescribed my doc said we could get me another. I just told him I was going to her, telling her what she wanted to hear, and then doing what I wanted to do anyway. So I have a fault... flog me with a wet noodle. But the Zocor has done it's job.
Zocor and Grape Seed PCO Phytosome Zocor beats getting the Avonex shots and you don't get sick. Avonex is more effective, but I couldn't handle the side effects, they were awful. Over and all, taking Zocor eases some of the symptoms and I have no side effects. I do also take Grape Seed PCO Phytosome 100mg capsules by Enzymatic Therapy, 2 a day which is very expensive but helps along with the Zocor.
Works Great No side effects, and brought me right to the normal range in two months.
Works for me, but I talked my doctor into 1/2 the dose he wanted me to take.
The recommendation was to take before sleep, I am only able to remember medication if I take it in the morning, so I do. I do not have any problem sleeping at night, except when the cat walks across my head.
I have been on this medication for 4-5 years, and am having a few of the side effects I have read about here.
I took of year off from the medication and some of the side effects that have been described in these reviews went away.
I started taking the medication again 6 months ago, and some of the side effects are coming back, so I am going to stop again and try controlling my Cholesterol with diet.
works for me I have been on Zocor for several years with no side effects.
The lifestyle changes which I still try to maintain (low fat diet, keep weight down, exercise) did not work to keep my cholesterol down. I believe my high cholesterol is partly genetic; my father and all his siblings have high cholesterol.
Zocor has helped lower and keep my cholesterol level low.
Works for me - No matter how much exercise I do and how carefully I monitor my diet, my Cholesterol numbers stay high. Zocor, which has no side effects that i can discern, gets my numbers down and now I understand it may also help prevent Alzheimer's.
Went from total cholesterol of 260 down to 150 in 3 months and have maintained. At 27 my only concern is long term side effects.
