Zestril is a great drug. My entire family has suffered from Congestive Heart Failure. Along with CHF comes swelling of feet and hands, etc. Since starting on Zestril my ankles are no longer swollen at any time, my hands do not swell, my blood pressure has fallen considerably, I rate this drug as a 10+. I come from a rather "sickly" family which includes diabetes, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure, spinal stenosis, arthritis, etc. so I take a cadre of different drugs each day, but Zestril really makes a huge difference in my life. Thank you to whoever formulated this drug!!!
Would like to know if I can stop taking this med at some point in time once my BP is stable?
what is half life of med
no side effects at all
my sodium is flucuating
My HBP med of choice for 10 years I tried several other medicines when being diagnosed with hypertension in 1994...Beta blockers, calcium channel blockers, etc, but they were either ineffective or the side effects were not bearable. Lisinopril has produced the least amount of side effects with the best result (I also take 12.5 mg of HCTZ). My BP stays around 130/80 unless I am anxious or consuming too much caffeine (which I tend to do). No real side effects that I can pinpoint. One other male reader mentioned erectile dysfunction, and that may be to a point, or just age, and I think ALL of the anti-hypertensive agents produce this effect to some degree. Keeping the dose as low as possible perhaps helps this, but who's to say? Good luck.
My doctor put me on this medication one week ago. I have been having attacks of sweating, but my skin is cold and clamy, and I feel nauseas, but only have the fry heaves
My cardiologist put me on this, took it for about a week and now I feel great!
Lisinopril I have been using this medication for several years for hypertension. The only side effect I have is a rare dryness in my eyes but this is aggravated by the fact that I am a pilot and the cockpit air is very dry. I never have this problem on my non-flying days.
Lisinopril controlled my blood pressure well When I started Lisinopril, I was on 30 mg once a day combined with Hydrochlorothiazide. The combination lowered my blood pressure too much. So my doctor changed it to 20 mg once a day without Hydrochlorothiazide. I stayed on that dose for about a year. In the meantime, I was losing weight. Eventually, my dose was cut to 10 mg, then to 5 mg. I now am off Lisinopril. If I needed to go on medication again for blood pressure, I would definitely do Lisinopril again.
Initially had positional vertigo on waking up, possibly from this or from diabetes medication. Dr. said don't sit up so fast. Dizziness has resolved itself. Take it in the morning not at night.
I'm a 44 Year Old Man. My BP had been 156/95 for about six months or more. After 1 week my BP is 118/75. No cough or other side effects except some irritabilty. I'm taking 10 mg with a diuretic.
