Reviews/Feedback:
Yasmin Tried this for a week or two, but it caused too much moodiness. I was in tears too often while I took it.
Yasmin So far I am not thrilled with Yasmin. I am supposed to stay on it at least for three months for the side effects to wear off. Unfortunately I have been on this for two and a half weeks and I have excruciating lower back pain. I don't know if it has to do with the potassium increase affecting my liver or what but right now this pill sucks for me.
Yasmin killed my libido I was on Yasmin for just under two years. It did reduce water rentention and it cleared up my acne completely.
However it also crushed my sex-drive to a point of no sexual desire whatsoever, caused the worst pms I have ever experienced, fatigue, and really odd psyche problems that I'd not previously experienced ie: ocd-like sypmtoms.

I'm going to try Alesse starting this sunday.
Yasmin is the first birth control pill I've tried, and it started out sweet but has turned very, very sour! It does what it’s supposed to, which is keeping you from getting pregnant, but the side effects have become unbearable. I started taking the pill 8 months ago, and I didn't notice any changes in myself at first (except my acne cleared up). However, over the past few months I have become very moody, cranky, extremely irritable and I feel like I could burst into tears at any moment. I thought these crazy emotions were due to my new life situation (recently married, living in a foreign country, far from family and friends) but I'm starting to wonder if it's the pill. I'm going to stop taking it and see what happens. I hope things change because my emotions are a wreck and I'm acting like a crazy person. I'm sure Yasmin works great for many people, but everyone reacts differently to the pill.
Yasmin has left my health in tatters I'm 28, happily married, professionally-employed, regularly exercise and eat healthy. So why do I look the worst I've ever looked and feel like I'm dying a bit every day? I went from a healthy, happy, active girl, to an 80-year-old invalid -- in the course of a YEAR. Thanks for nothing, Yasmin.

THE GOOD...
~ minimal water retention
~ like all b/c pills, they work effectively in avoiding getting pregnant
~ easy to use (like most pills) and relatively cheap

THE BAD...
~ anxiety
~ OCD!
~ frayed nerves
~ mood swings / easily irritated
~ gas
~ vaginal dryness
~ decreased libido
~ painful under-the-skin cyst acne along jawline & chest

THE UGLY...and we're talkin' UGLY!
~ extreme fatigue (I can barely make it through the day!)
~ severe panic/anxiety attacks
~ nausea
~ baaaad diarrhea
~ *extreme* upper abdominal bloating
~ weight gain (about 10-15 lbs.)

Overall, I have felt absolutely MISERABLE since I've gone on the pill....but Yasmin has made me feel even worse.

Please note, while I believe this pill has 100% effectiveness and is relatively cost effective, being on this pill has wrecked my health.

I'm going off Yasmin, and the pill in general, as of TODAY.

Yasmin has done wonders for me. I have used other birth control pills and my periods were about the same as whenI am not taking the pill and on Yasmin they have let up some and are shorter.
Yasmin has been very effective in the no baby department for 3 years. I've switched to the generic and found no differences other than it being about $10 cheaper (woo hoo) My only problem is that starting the pills escalated my migraines. But, 4-5 migraines a month is WAY better than no baby.
Yasmin does help with acne, but the side effects i still get are nausea and sometimes diahreaha and i bleed soo light or not at all.
Yasmin and The Birth Control Patch My doctor adores Yasmin, and I have used it on/off for 2 years (off when I was on Lupron or nothing at all). It does help when I take it continuously for 3 months, then have a week off for a period (and oh, what a week that is). I still have pain on the pill, but it is generally mild and irritating instead of the full-on, doubled over pain I get without it. Because I can be forgetful with the pill, I tried the birth control patch for 3 months. Ease of use, a perfect 10. However, I had breakthrough bleeding the last 3 weeks I had it on, which meant another trip to the doctor for pain medication (Vicodin). So, now it's back to Yasmin.
Yasmin a Great Success Before I took this medicine, I was all over the place moodwise. I had severe irritability and hypersensitivity. Now I only get slightly annoyed and I don't fall to pieces. The reduction in acne and regulation of my period are two added pluses.

Yasmin 28 I have been taking this BCP for several months. So far good news. I have tried other BCP and about the 3rd month I'm in pain again... I also have changed BCP because of my mood swings... Still keeping my fingers crossed.
WOW what a difference. I was super B***H, the week before my period. It effected everyone in my life. Everyone marked on the calandar when my cycle was going to start. I went to the doctor and was put on this medicine. I started the pack on my period the first day, by the next month I could feel the diffence. I loved myself then. Others have noticed too. I am 100% better and would recommend this to any women who is in need of help and wants to take a birth control. No weight gain either. Plus my periods are only for 1 day. Thats it. Very light and I don't have to go threw 2 boxes of Tampons.

Drug Uses

Yasmin is used for for preventing pregnancy. It is also used to treat premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) or certain types of acne in women who are using Yasmin for birth control. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to use

Use Yasmin as directed by your doctor.

Take Yasmin by mouth with or without food.
Talk with your doctor about how you should start to take your first pack of Yasmin. If you begin to take Yasmin during the first 24 hours of your period, you do not need to use an extra form of birth control. If you begin to take Yasmin on the Sunday after your period starts, you will need to use an extra form of birth control for 7 days after you start taking Yasmin.
If you are switching from another birth control pill to Yasmin, start Yasmin on the same day that would have started a new pack of your previous birth control pills. Talk with your doctor if you have any questions about how to switch from another form of hormonal birth control to Yasmin.
Take Yasmin at the same time every day, not more than 2 hours apart. After taking the last pill in the pack, start taking the first pill from a new pack the very next day.
Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Yasmin.
Drug Class and Mechanism

Yasmin is a progesterone and estrogen combination birth control pill. It works by preventing ovulation, thickening the mucus in the cervix, and changing the lining of the uterus.

Missed Dose

If you miss 1 dose of Yasmin, take it as soon as you remember. Take your next dose at the regular time. This means you may take 2 doses on the same day. you do not need to use a backup form of birth control if you only miss 1 pill. If you miss more than 1 dose, read the extra patient leaflet that comes with Yasmin or contact your doctor for instructions. You must use a backup form of birth control if you miss more than 1 dose. If you are not sure how to handle missed doses, use an extra form of birth control (e.g., condoms) until you talk with your doctor.

Storage

Store Yasmin at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep in a tight, light-resistant container. Keep Yasmin out of the reach of children and away from pets.

you have a history of blood clotting problems, severe blood clots (e.g., in the lungs, legs, eyes), certain blood vessel problems (e.g., bleeding in the brain, heart attack, stroke), or breast cancer;
you have certain heart problems (e.g., heart valve problems, certain types of irregular heartbeat); chest pain caused by angina; certain blood problems (e.g., porphyria); certain types of headaches or migraines with aura; severe or uncontrolled high blood pressure; diabetes that affects circulation; endometrial, cervical, or vaginal cancer; estrogen-dependent growths; or undiagnosed abnormal vaginal bleeding;

If your period does not occur when expected, or if you experience unusual breast tenderness or symptoms of morning sickness, call your doctor right away. These symptoms may indicate that you are pregnant.
The effectiveness of Yasmin may be decreased by certain medicines (e.g., antibiotics, medicines for seizures, St. John's wort) or conditions (e.g., vomiting or diarrhea). Talk with your doctor or pharmacist for more information.
Tell your doctor or dentist that you take Yasmin before you receive any medical or dental care, emergency care, or surgery. You may experience a delay in being able to become pregnant after stopping Yasmin. This effect may be greater in patients who had irregular periods before starting Yasmin. Discuss any concerns with your doctor or pharmacist.
Yasmin does not stop the spread of HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) to others through blood or sexual contact. Use barrier methods of birth control (eg, condoms) if you have an HIV infection or an STD.
When your medicine supply is low, get more from your doctor or pharmacist as soon as you can. Do not run out of medicine. Your chance of becoming pregnant may be increased if you do not take Yasmin every day as directed.
Diabetes patients - Yasmin may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely. Ask your doctor before you change the dose of your diabetes medicine.
Lab tests, including breast exams, Pap tests, physicals, and blood pressure, may be performed while you use Yasmin. These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
Examine your breasts monthly as directed by your doctor. Report any lumps right away.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: Do not take Yasmin if you are pregnant. If you think you may become pregnant, contact your doctor right away. Yasmin is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while you are taking Yasmin.
