You put a capsule into a very small plastic device, twist, and inhale. The twisting breaks the capsule in two, and the inhaling spins the fragments rapidly, dispersing the powder completely and carrying it into your bronchii or whatever they are. No propellant to cause you to choke or cough. I prefer it by far compared to the inhalers, but it is unavailable basically everywhere today. Too simple, and I suppose there are dumb-ish people who cannot figure out which end of a gun the bullet comes out of, exposing the firm to liability (especially in the US) The manufacturer's "DISKUS" (similar to the Advair diskus in mechanical operation) gives 60 doses for about $30, which is a ripoff - they're getting lots of money for a complex clever plastic large device that has no advantages to the intelligent user compared to rotacaps. (I took an Advair diskus apart, it is a marvelous device, but as appropriate as using a Mercedes to do the functions of a wheelbarrow.) And it appears that this "diskus" format is available in Canada but I do not know about the US.
Works well to clear airway... I actually use Albuterol for COPD (emphysema). Normally I only use Atrovent, and save the Albuterol for "bad days." One puff does it for me, works well and minimizes side effects... it's actually a lot less stimulating than I thought it would be, although I don't use it right before bedtime.
Also works well in combination with Guaifenesin to thin mucus secretions... this is my combo of choice on days when I'm sort of gasping for air (thankfully not too frequent, it's still beginning stage COPD... and yep, I quit smoking!).
Works for me... I have used this inhaler basically as a "rescue" inhaler and when I have had bronchitus, etc... when I need it, it works, when I use it without a necessity I feel like it makes my heart race a bit....
Whatever works This review is how Albuterol has worked for my 7 yr old son. He takes 2 puffs before he goes out to play & it is also his rescue inhaler. Depending on the intensity of his attacks, which are cough-induced, he will usually get relief after 1 or 2 doses. When that doesn't work, I know I'm in for a long haul.
Very effective Ventolin is very effective. At first I just used a Ventolin inhaler for my asthma. Later, the
doctor tried various preparations of time released Theophyllin, which I
thought was a life saver--it is a long acting bronchodilator and I didn't
have as many symptoms. Unfortunately, it would sometimes make my heart race
and give me the shakes. As my asthma got worse, they added Flovent to
reduce the inflammation. Even later, they gave me Serevent with the Flovent
and stopped the Theophyllin. This was a very big improvement. I only
needed to use my Albuterol "rescue" inhaler a couple times a day and it stopped
the shakes and heart racing. I have also used Albuterol in a nebulizer form in the emergency room and urgent care - it really works fast in a situation that could get very dangerous.
Ventolin/Albuterol....How could I live w/out ??? Ever since I can remember, I have used Ventolin inhaler. It's a quick acting "rescue" inhaler, which for many severe asthmatics, is used on a regular basis. It does cause a jittery, nervous feeling and rapid heartbeat. That generally never has gone away, although when it comes to you just being able to catch your breath again, you tend not to focus on the heartbeat :-).. I also use Advair 500, and Singulair for maintenance asthma. I still use my rescue inhaler, simply because in TN, it is so awful here. Most any doctor here says that if you really want relief....than move...really. I am allergic to so many things (I get 5 allergy shots every week for about 1&1/2 yrs), and I can get asthma from someone's cologne/perfume. I carry this everywhere I go. It's in my dresser, my desk drawer, my car, my purse. When you need it, it works rapidly. It has surely come to my rescue and probably saved my life many times over. I use the generic (about 20.99 here) and it seems to work just as the Ventolin did ....I don't know how any asthmatic could do without it....It's a sure proven security blanket.....Sincerely, booboo <*-*>
Ventolin very effective
Ventolin Ventolin inhalation has been an effective means of correcting breathing difficulties for over 10 years. I had used it regularly to help eliminate tightness and before exercise. It always worked.
I have found that Advair precludes my requirement for a regular dose of Ventolin. Ventolin is now held in reserve for extreme cases which have thankfully been less than once a month. There had been situations where I had used it multiple times per day.
ventolin this has saved my life more than once.
Ventolin rotacaps 400mcg I actually use 400mcg capsules in my rotahaler and find these very effective indeed.
Ventolin Review I used to get Ventolin prescribed in the emergency room everytime I'd have difficulty breathing, usually after I've had a bad cold, they would always run a inhalation therapy treament on me and then send me on my way home. I have only recently been on Ventolin since January which is longer than usual and I now have to take Flovent as well, I also need to go for a Pulmonary function test and an allergy test...
Ventolin Inhaler Works great for me every time both as an inhaler and in nebulizer form! (Note: I rated low on cost effectiveness because the brand-name Ventolin is so expensive. My cheapskate insurance company will only cover the generic (which makes me cough uncontrollably and just exacerbates the situation), so I have to pay for Ventolin completely out-of-pocket.)
