Reviews/Feedback:
worked well but experienced pain in my legs. took ibreprofin and it seemed to stop the pain
Worked in 2 days completely cleared up.
Wife is taking 1000mg x 3 a day and is having very good relief from her FM of 25 years. Keeping our fingers crossed.
was wondering if anyone could help me with some answers - how long can herpes be dormant before an outbreak? I had a horrible outbreak and I have never in my life had herpes or symptoms before - my husband who I am faithful to has never had it so I was clueless, all we could think of was we have a friend whose son gets hsv 1 the coldsores alot and is on medicine for it and that maybe i touched something of his and then contracted it wiping after going to the bathroom or something - the type I tested pos for was hsv 1 which my doc says normally is the cold sore type - he put me on valtrex but it seems I do have repeat outbreaks - not as much painful sores but alot of the flu like symptoms aches etc - I wonder if I should be on valtrex every day? I found it made me feel irritable while on it - any help is appreciated - the last resort is to think maybe my spouse was unfaithful and that is how I got this because I have never slept with anyone but him for the past 7 years so where did this come from
Was diagnosed 2yrs ago. I had 3 out breaks in the 1st 5 mnths after I was diagnosed. I was prescribed Valtrex. Dr said I didn't have to take it every day if I didn't want to. I took the Valtrex when I needed it. Definitly helped alot. I only get one sore in the same spot, seemed to pop up during my periods. In 2 yrs I have had 4 out breaks. I only take it when i need it. I find that ibuprofin and benydril help w pain, swelling and the itch. My ins pays for it. 45$/mnth.
VERY GOOD MEDICATION
Very Expensive
Valtrex is very good for me. I start taking it as soon as I feel I am having a breakout of my Herpes and in the 5 days at 2 per day of 500 mg. each. it is gone...My breakouts are infrequent.
Valtrex is amazing. When I found out I had HSV 2 the doctor said I could either do suppressive therapy or just take it when I have an outbreak. That first outbreak was a nightmare and enough to make me never want another one. I have been on suppressive therapy for over 6 months now and the only other outbreak I had was when I went away for the weekend and forgot to take the Valtrex with me. This allows me to live a normal life without being in pain.
Valtrex is a miracle I've been taking 500 miligrams of Valtrex daily for 2 years and have not had an outbreak at all. Prior to medication I had outbreaks approximately every 2 months.
Valtrex has worked well for me. I have been taking it for about 1 year now and it does what it is suppose to do .
Valtrex has saved my life. I've been on it for about 1 year and I haven't had any outbreaks since I've started taking it. I thought my life was over. I HIGHLY RECOMEND IT. Don't be stupid. Use protection and get checked by your Dr often.

Drug Uses

Valtrex is used for treating shingles (herpes zoster), cold sores (fever blisters or herpes labialis), and treating or suppressing genital herpes in patients with normal immune systems. It is also used to suppress genital herpes in patients with HIV infection.

How to use

Use Valtrex as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

Take Valtrex by mouth with or without food. If stomach upset occurs, take with food to reduce stomach irritation.
Drinking extra fluids while you are taking Valtrex is recommended. Check with your doctor for instructions.
To treat cold sores, shingles, or genital herpes, start treatment as soon as possible after your symptoms start.
If treating an acute outbreak, continue using Valtrex for the full course of treatment, even if you feel better in a few days.
For suppressive therapy, Valtrex works best if it is taken at the same time each day.
Drug Class and Mechanism

Valtrex is an antiviral. It works by stopping viral replication. However, Valtrex does not eliminate the virus, it is not a cure. When used as a suppressive therapy in patients with normal immune systems with genital herpes using safer sex practices, the risk of spreading the infections to others is reduced.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Valtrex , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Storage

Store Valtrex at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). Brief storage between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Valtrex out of the reach of children and away from pets.
