Reviews/Feedback:
Works in high doses my doc, I believe, likes blood levels between 15-25. Not sure on the "units" of this. Don't quote me on that. I have never heard of anyone on as high a dosage as I am taking, but nothing has ever helped me besides first being diagnosed with babesiosis through the "FISH" test that the Igenex (spelling?) lab offers and then going on Mepron for that (combined with low dose Zithromax) and then this high dose Amox.

When I was taking 2 875mg tabs twice a day, I thought I could never go up because of how bad my herxes were, but every 3 weeks or so, I would increase to 3, then 4, then 5, and finally 6 tabs twice daily, for a total of 12 875 mg tabs daily.

Increase when you think you can...don't kill yourself! But keep in mind, sometimes the increase will be scary, but it is worth it! Now, i can look back and see that my health is slowly coming back to me. I am currently only half way to where I want to be, but after years of not improving at all and NOTHING working, progress is PROGRESS! I know if I continue at this rate, I will be at a good point eventually where my life will be almost normal, save having to rest a little more than most, but who cares!!!!!!!!

Lyme can be horrible, I know it! It will take away your clarity, your cognitive function, your psychological stability, your energy, your personality, your life! Keep researching and you are in my prayers! Don't stick with anything for more than a few months if things seem fishy. You will know productive herxes (yes, they suck!), from just being overdosed with meds that aren't helping.

Push yourself to be normal, surround yourself with people and things that make you happy, and keep going!!!!! You can do it! :)

Don't forget to look into co-infections, too.....I never saw progress till i treated my babesiosis first., then worried abotu this lyme. If you aren't getting better after a very long time, consider that you may have coinfections even if it doesn't show up in bloodwork.
Long term Amoxicillin for chronic urinary tract If bacteria such as Enterococci are found through a sensitive culturing technique an antibiotic such as Amoxicillin or Augmentin is usually the most effective. Amoxicillin is easier to tolerate for the long term so is the drug of choice. It is available in generic form so is less expensive. Usually the dosage is 250 mg 3 times a day. The least number of months needed is 6 and often more will be required, up to a year. But as symptoms resolve the dosage can be reduced to half of a third. Some kind of yeast control is essential: diet with no sugar is a must, and probiotics everyday should be included. Also drugs such as Nystatin (2-500,000 unit tabs with each AB dose) or Diflucan (100 mg) at least once per week. Monitoring of the urine should be done periodically to see that the bacteria is being suppressed. It is theorized that the length of time of treatment is unusually long is due to the fact that the bacteria may have burrowed into the bladder wall. Also, the bladder must be protected from further invasion of bacteria to give it time to heal.
Day 5 and my son is still coughing. Today he has nausea, vomiting and diarrhea.
Amoxicillin The single best improvement of anything I have tried. Had to stop due to respiratory infection. I am restarting treatment again this week.
Amoxicillin My treatment was switched from Doxycycline after 5 months to Amoxicillin because of severe side effects of the Doxy. This was in 2001. I stayed on the Amoxicillin for about a year with very few side effects. I was getting better on this treatment, but then the progress plateaued after a year, and I was switched to IM Rocephin 1g for 3 months. I herxed so much on this, I was switched to Zithro and Flagyl and did better on this--continuing to get better and better.
Amoxicillin is effective. Oral amoxicillin treatment is effective if a high enough dosage is taken. Generally the dose is two 500mg capsules three times per day to start. Many people go higher.
Amox best when combined with other antibiotics, especially Biaxin at 200 mg per day.

Amoxy dose best at 6 grams per day or higher, check blood levels.
80% remission Im able to tolerate vitamin C now and no daily pain. It's the only thing that has helped me at all. I plan to continue this therapy and am hopeful of a cure. You have to keep up with some probiotics.
