Reviews/Feedback:
Works for me I was prescribed Serevent diskus in October after being diagnosed with bronchopulmonary aspergillosis. I have had a long history of asthma, since I was 7 years old. With the bpa, my symptoms of asthma have changed and so the medication required has changed. I find the Serevent diskus to be one of the highly effective drugs in controlling my asthma. This medication along with Qvar and Singulair are my "top 3." Without any one of these drugs, my asthma and congestion worsen over days. If I am coughing and wheezing, I find almost immediate relief from Serevent diskus. It feels as though a powder is coating the irritation that is causing the cough. I, luckily, have had no problem with reaction to the powder, although I know this is an issue for some users.
This medicine has help with asthma to the point I have no asthma attaches. I have been using this medicine for more than 9 years now. I use 50 mcg, one puff two times a day manufactured by Glaxo Smith Kline. This is the best medicine for the treatment for Asthma. The other medicine I was taking never worked the way this does. I have only had a positive experience with this medicine. It is a good feeling to be asthma attach free.
The aerobid which I use with this says to rinse mouth after use and not swallow but spit out the water--am wondering if the same is true for serevent but have not been able to find anything regarding this. Any advice? Thank you.
serrevent inhaler worked great but. . . They stopped it. Without release in the US the hfa version they have in the rest of the world. The discus is great, unless you react badly to powders, in which case it can be terrible.
Serevent This medication worked well for a while. It is hard to use without a spacer.
Serevent Serevent is one of four inhalers I use and it works well with other inhalers to control my asthma.
serevent IT works great
Serevent I was told by a doctor that hey were taking this medication off the market (the aerosol that is) and I don't know what I can do. It is the only medication that keeps my asthma manageable. The diskus is just not as effective as the aerosol. I think that this is a wonderful product.
Serevent I find Serevent aerosol very effective as a long term preventative medication. If wheeze gets worse I double the dose until I am over the problem (flu, cold, infection, etc). In Australia this medication is on the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme which means I pay $AUS23 for each aerosol or about $AU4 after I spend about $AU700 in the Scheme. Pensioners & Health Care Card holders pay between about $4 and nothing. No side effects are noticeable. Serevent and Ventolin are my two most favoured medications in the relief of my moderately severe condition.
Serevent + Flovent = a normal life Have been on Serevent+Flovent for 10 yrs, and as long as I take religiously I have normal life. I can workout and run five-miles (8-km) per day. This is even in the sub-tropical summer climate of Mobile, AL (but in summer months I need to increase my dosage to two puffs every 12 hrs).

The only thing this combination won't do for me is to cure my deadly asthmatic reaction to cats. Dogs no longer give me an asthma attack (only allergy problems).
Really good with Flovent My asthma was uncontrolled for a long time. The only long-action broncodialator I used was Theophylline. Adding Flovent helped. Then the doctor added serevent instead of theophyline and greatly reduced the severity of my asthma and brought it under control.
I have never tried serevent alone without Flovent.
The combination is very good, but I have had better results using the Advair diskus--it contains the same medicines as Flovent and Serevent, but the delivery system is better for me.
I've used Sevevent for about 9 years now. I think it is a good medication, however sometimes I experience some short term wheezing and tightness in the chest after taking it, which usually goes away. I find that the medication's main benefit is that it keeps my lungs dialated enough to sleep soundly through the night without having to reach for my inhaler every few hours, so I only take it before going to bed. During my active hours, I rely on my albuterol, because it just seems to keep my lungs more loose, especially when working out. The more active I am, the less effective Serevent seems to be. I wonder if anyone reading this has had the same experience with this medication.

Drug Uses

Serevent Diskus is used for long-term treatment of asthma. It may be used to prevent breathing problems in certain patients, including patients with nighttime asthma, or breathing problems caused by exercise. It may be used for long-term treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to use

Use Serevent as directed by your doctor.

Always activate and use this device in a level, horizontal position. Do not try to use a spacer device with Serevent.
To prepare the device for use, open the protective foil pouch and remove the inhaler device. Hold the device in one hand. Use the thumb of the opposite hand to push the thumb-grip as far away from you as it will go. The mouthpiece will appear and snap into position.
Hold the device in a level, flat position with the mouthpiece towards you. Use your thumb to slide the lever away from you as far as it will go. You should hear a click. The device is now ready for use.
Do not close or tilt the device, play with the lever, or move the lever more than once. You may accidentally release or waste a dose.
Close the device when you are finished taking a dose. Slide the thumb-grip back towards you as far as it will go. The device will click shut, and the lever will return to its original position.
Serevent delivers your dose as a very fine powder. Most, but not all, patients can taste or feel it. Even if you cannot feel it, do not use more than the recommended dose. If you are not sure if you are receiving your dose, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
If you are using Serevent to prevent breathing problems caused by exercise, use it at least 30 minutes before you start to exercise. Do not use another dose for at least 12 hours. If you already use Serevent twice daily on a regular basis, do NOT take an extra dose before you exercise.
Discard the inhaler 6 weeks after removing it from the protective foil pouch or after all the blisters have been used, whichever comes first.
Never wash the mouthpiece or any other part of the inhaler. Keep it dry and always store it in a dry place.
Continue to use Serevent even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
Ask your health care provider any questions you may have about how to use Serevent.
Drug Class and Mechanism

Serevent is a long-acting beta-agonist bronchodilator. It widens the airways in the lungs, which helps you breathe more easily.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Serevent, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not use 2 doses at once.

Storage

Store Serevent at room temperature, between 68 and 77 degrees F (20 and 25 degrees C). Store Serevent away from heat, moisture, and direct sunlight. Throw Serevent away 6 weeks after it is removed from the foil pouch. Keep Serevent out of the reach of children and away from pets.
