Reviews/Feedback:
WORKS VERY WELL MOST OF THE TIME. I TAKE REQUIP FOR RESTLESS LEG SYNDROME. IT WORKS GREAT AT NIGHT BUT I'M STILL HAVING TROUBLE AT WORK. AT MY DESK SOMETIMES I HAVE TO STAND AND DO MY JOB. I HAVE A SCRIPT FOR 1MG BUT HAVE STARTED SOMETIMES TO TAKE 2MG IF I CAN'T BE STILL. I HAVE A TINGLING IN MY LEGS AND ARMS THAT WON'T GO AWAY WITH 1MG BUT 2MG SEEMS TO HELP ALOT. JUST FOUND OUT THERE IS A EXTENDED REQUIP. GONNA TALK TO MY DOCTOR ABOUT THAT TO SEE IF IT WOULD HELP ME DURING THE DAY. I CAN'T LIVE WITHOUT REQUIP.
Works if I take it about 2 hours before I need it to "kick in." Have to time it carefully because if I take it too late I have a lot of trouble getting to sleep, and if I take it too early I get extremely groggy in the middle of whatever I'm doing. If I'm driving and get home almost at bedtime, I've got a problem because I can't take it until I get home and then it won't kick in for a couple of hours.
wonderful This is the first thing that has really helped my legs. The only reason that I stopped was because I am trying a
different medicine for my fibromyalgia and they are not compatible. Hopefully that to will pass quickly. I would really like to get back on the routine of taking it again
Without this pill,I cannot sleep at night, because of RLS.I would not sleep at all without this pill. THANK YOU!
without this medication, I am up all night walking, sitting, etc.
Without this med I couldn't sleep sit or even read a book before bed...
When I take it with Alprazolam at bedtime, the synptoms are intensified. I can't hold still, involuntary movement of my entire upper body and legs.
when i sit down to relax i can't keep my legs still i heard there is a generic brand called Ropinirole is it as good as Requip.
Was on Mirapex for 6 months and it was okay. Recently was changed to Requip, it seems to work better and also helps me to sleep. Mirapex distrurbed by sleep.
use restless leg sympton
Unbeknownst to me, I've had RSL for over 25 years. Thought I was just crazy! I take Requip about two hours before retiring each night. First six were like a dream. But, recently I've felt the need for it...restlessness...earlier in the evening and wake up with the "heebie-jeebies" in the morning. I'm wondering if dosage should be increased and plan a call to the physician who prescribed it. But, "wiggly" mornings are more than made up for, by hours and hours of uninterrupted sleep. I recommend this treatment for anyone suffering from RLS.
Total and Immediate Success on 1mg. I was on SSRI's for many years which caused loss of libido during that time. For most people, their libido comes back after discontinuation of SSRI's, but it did not for me. (PSSD- Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction) I finally talked to my psychiatrist about it and he said he had just started prescribing Requip which other psychiatrists were reporting good success for people on SSRI's. I was one of the first people he put on it, the first one no longer on an SSRI. Since this is an off label use of a drug that is approved for Parkinson's, which are dosed up to 24mgs a day, he started his patients out in .25 mg twice a day and would raise it if needed. At this dose I got about 50% libido back, but I wanted 100% so he increased my dose to 1mg. Both times I got results right away. At 1mg I had 100% return and them some. I have been on 1mg ever since with the same results and have no side effects at all. He has reported to me that he is seeing good success with his patients using it who are on SSRI's.

One note about the cost. Since I was started on .25 pills, when I went to 1mg a day, my doctor prescribed it still with the .25mg pills which I took four of a day. When I got the bill it was 125.00 co-pay for a 90 day supply. I was shocked at the price and told him about it. He said he would change the next prescription to the 1mg pill, once a day, as they charge by the pill, not the dose. What a difference, it was now only 45.00 co-pay for three months. The other way was not very cost effective at 500.00 a year but 180.00 a year, for me, was cost effective which is why I rated it as such.

Drug Uses

This medication is used to treat Parkinson's disease. It helps replace the brain chemical called dopamine, which is low in Parkinson's disease. It is also used to treat RLS (Restless Legs Syndrome).

How to use

Take this medication as prescribed. Do not increase your dose or take it more often than directed. Do not stop taking this medication without your doctor's approval. Stopping this drug suddenly may cause you to experience unwanted side effects. Dosing is based on your condition and this drug's side effects. It may take a few weeks for this medication to take effect.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Requip helps relieve the signs and symptoms of Parkinson's disease. Caused by a deficit of dopamine (one of the brain's chief chemical messengers), this disorder is marked by progressive muscle stiffness, tremor, and fatigue. Requip works by stimulating dopamine receptors in the brain, thus promoting better, easier movement.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as remembered; do not take if it is almost time for the next dose. Instead, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not "double-up" the doses.

Storage

Store at controlled room temperature away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store in the bathroom.
