Works very well to turn whopper migraines into manageable headaches w/ ibuprofen. Tiredness really sucks and may contribute to weight gain on this medication. Was on this for awhile a year or two ago and stopped for those reasons but this time I know what to expect and seem to be handling it better. Have some dizziness. I have lower blood pressure as a general rule so maybe the side effects are compounded by it. Still, best thing I've tried to date.
Was using weighted utensils to eat with dominant right hand, then to left hand. Finally saw doctor. Initially 30 mg, once a day worked, then progressed to 2 x 30 mg (morn & even). Switched to Inderal LA after 60 mg didn't permit satisfactory eating capability.
Today is three months that I have been on this med. I take this with topamax. My Dr. put me on this after I had a cluster migrain that lasted about 4 to 6 months. before this drug I was having migrains twice a month that lasted at the least 5 days at the most on reg.7 days. I have migrains now once every other month, they still last a week get them but at least thats one week out of the month now instead of what seem like the whoooooooooole month. I guess.:)
Thsi med has worked great for me. Originally the doctor had me on 20 mg in the morning then 40mg at night and i was just overly exaughsted. So now instead of taking two doses throughout the day I take one dose of the slow release at night and it has worked wonders since. Its amaizing i no longer wake up at 2-3 am with a migrane and it helps me sleep in general.
This medications has greatly reduced the severity of my migraines. I still experience 1 - 2 headaches a month but are now treatable with Imitrex.
This medication has decreased my migraines from having at least 4 a month to maybe 2 a year. I highly recommend Propranolol for migraine prevention.
This drug has been a life saver for me- as a migraine sufferer this medication was prescribed to reduce the amount of headaches with a minimum amount of side effects (that other preventative migraine meds can cause). Inderal 120 mg worked wonders for me I went from 5-6 migraines a month to 1 or 2 with no side effects.
The short form (2x/day) was working for me, but then it gave me blackouts followed by a horrible migraine attack that lasted 2 weeks, so my doctor put me on the long form that I take at dinner time. What a huge difference! I don't care if I have to take this the rest of my life. I was getting migraines a minimum of 3-4 times a week. Since being on this for a month now, I've had only one.
sometimes I have back pain with soreness. but I don't know if it caused by the medication.
So far i've been on this for a week and haven't had a migraine. I was given this after a week long migraine that i couldn't get rid of. I still have fuzzy moments and auras now and then. it comes in waves it does make my anxiety worse..then better again its odd...but the pain is gone!
Since taking this medication I have had no headaches. It has made me feel sleepy and fatigued. Have only been taking this med for 2 weeks, hope the tired feeling will go away, love not having headaches.
My doctor perscribed this drug as part of a migraine prevention program. I also have irregular heartbeat and a high resting heart rate (in the 80's). My blood pressure has always been within the normal range. My migraines are infrequent (1-2 a month), but debilitating. I get my migraines at a certain time of the month and since I have only started it about 10 days ago, I have not had a chance to experience its migraine prevention. So far, I am still in the adjusting phase - I take a small dose of 10 mg 3 tmes per day. In the beginning, I was very tired, but noticed that my anxiety decreased and it works great for my tension headaches (these were almost daily). I have not taken an anelgestic since I started this medicine. Since I was quite drowsy in the beginning, my doctor changed my medication to another beta-blocker, Atenolol. It made me sick immediately. I was beyond tired and ended up missing work for two days. I am back on propranolol and this time around, not as tired. Quite a few reviewers mentioned that they gained weight - propranolol actually decreased my appetite, because it lowered my anxiety and got rid of the tension headaches (both were triggers that caused me to overeat). I feel good. This medication calms me down and I feel as though it is a bit of a mood enhancer (from the increased availability of oxygen, I'm assuming). My anxiety symptoms (blurred vision, numb fingers, dizziness, confusion, and overall weakness) have noticeably decreased. Also, I am rarely short of breath and my heartrate feels stable. I really like this drug so far.
