weight gain
very positive results Prometrium has helped me immensely. I believe that bringing my hormones into balance and getting relief from menopausal symptoms has greatly improved my overall health, which, in turn, has lessened the pain from fibromyalgia.
thought it was helping for premenapausel symp but am still dizzy and sleepy, but my severe headaches and hot flashes are gone. i did have one night (9th night)that was VERY SCARY,slurred speech, running into walls, exdtremely dizzy like i was drunk..hasn't happened again, guess maybe i took it too early before going to bed
The doctors put me on this after taking blood at my first pre natal visit to make sure I carry to full term. Makes me a zomby, this knocks me out for 9-10 hours not just for sleep but laying in bed doing nothing. Taking it to keep baby healthy but would not take it for anything else.
Prometrium I stopped menstrul cycle at age 31 due to cytoxan. I have been on the prometrium ever since. No side effects noted.
No Side Effects at All This micronized version of progesterone is just the greatest. I had in the past tried compounded progesterone, in various formulas, and gotten migraine headeaches from them all after about 3 days of taking the pills. I wanted to use some form of bio identical HRT, but without a natural progesterone without side effects, I put off taking any products again until Prometrium arrived. I use a Vivelle Patch (Dot) at the lowest dose .025. to compliment the Prometrium.
I make a small co-payment on my insurance for it, so I can not fairly rate the cost effectiveness of Prometrium.
My doctor put me on 200mg intravaginally twice a day 3 days after insemination (my 4th). I used a 14 day Lupron kit and menopur injections ("super ovulation") prior to insemination. The side effects of the progesterone I've experienced are tiredness (going to bed a lot earlier than ususal) and scattered thinking. I also noticed abdominal pain with increased activity (a lot of walking). I'm not sure if this medication is working yet because it's too early for a pregnancy test. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for the last 3+ years. I was on clomid several months with 2 IUIs without success. My new doctor told me clomid isn't recommended for women who are ovulating regularly. My periods were regular and I was ovulating regularly. I did have mild endometriosis and had surgery. This is my 2nd IUI after the surgery and hopefully my last. I am going to be 40 this year and time is running out. Now that I'm reading all the reviews I'm concerned about taking this medication if I am pregnant. Wish me Luck!!!
It works, but I take it twice a day (200mg) and I stay very tired and dizzy all the time.
Im 48 and had total hyst/ovary removal 5 yrs ago, Im on Bio-identical hormones which are great but having joint pain/stiffness. This works great for that. Much improved in less than 1 month.
I've been trying to conceive for several years now and have taken this drug just after ovulation every single time. While I do get very dizzy and drowsy, it does seem to push my progesterone levels threw the roof (usually 80-125 with high considered to be anything over 15). I know I'm not the only one who has experienced the other unpleasant side effect if taken vaginally...over abudance of yeast. The important piece to remember if using this just after ovulation and during pregnancy...this medication doesn't work with just one dose. It has to build up in your system over a few days. You need to catch the low progesterone levels very early in order for this medication to be most effective. Many infertility specialists choose to be proactive and start the drug immediately after ovulation, without any progesterone level checks to ensure the progesterone levels remain high. Even with side effects, I'd take this medicine in a heart beat to prevent miscarriage.
I've been on Prometrium for less than a week after taking Clomid and ovulating...at first I took the medication orally and thought I was going to go CRAZY because I was SO DIZZY and felt so sick to my stomach. I contacted my Doctor and then Pharmasist who both said 'take it vaginally'. Since taking it vaginally, no more dizziness! I wanted to share, if you are one of the dizzy girls out there it's worth a shot to ask your Doctor if taking Prometrium vaginally is right for you. Wishing every one the best of luck and I hope this will help my pregnancy "stick" if I'm fortunate enough to be pregnant!
I was trying to get pregnant back in january 2008. I found out I was not ovulating so my doc put me on this. 2 months later I was pregnant with my little girl. So it worked wonders! Now that I had her I am now 5 months postpartum and not ovulating again. My doc has prescribed it again. I am sure it will get me back to normal!
