Reviews/Feedback:
Yet another new treatment for acne that I've had since I was about 12. I'm now 24. This has worked the most quickly by far, although it does cause some dizziness. I am using it in combination with clindamycin topical gel.
Works for me I began using mincin following extensive research on my own for a method of treating my RA without the risks assocaited with some of the newer meds like Enbrel. I have had excellent results with Minocin. I still occasionally have flare ups but they are nothing compared to where I was prior to using the minocin.

Worked great except for the itching! I started on this over two months ago and began to feel a lot less stiff and tired during the day, then all of a sudden, I began itching. First in the genito-urinary area, and then ALL OVER! I discovered that I was one of the many people allergic to minocin therapy. I wish there was an alternative that would work as well without the horrible itching!
with steroid therapy and antihistamine great The overall treatment was a miracle. I went from near disability to fully functional. Steroids increased my physical capacity about 10% - I always measured how fast I could run one mile - but I gained about 40lbs. After went off therapy I was relatively pain fred for nearly 15 years.
Why I'm back on Minocin My numbers---sed rate, CRP, RF---were cut in half in the time I was on antibiotics; I was worried about long-term effects of antibiotic use, so I stopped for 1 year, but now back on.

***Please investigate B-cell depletion therapy---2 injections of Rituximab---has done profoundly well in tests.

Ocotber 2006---I'm now taking IV Clindamycin 1 week a month: 300-600-900-900-900mg. doses over the five days; this process sends me to bed; I can't really work that week at all; numbers (RF, sed. rate, CRP) went down significantly after the first week, slowly thereafter; combined with super clean diet, yoga, heavy use of supplements and nutriceuticals, and IV vitamin C and phosphatydil choline/glutathione, I'm working full time and relatively pain-free during the day, even with a rheumatoid factor above 2000.

February 2007---still on 200mg. mincycline/day,
with 5 doses of IV 1200mg. Clindamycin per month; my numbers are going steadily down;
I have more energy; I found out I have no heart disease, which is "almost miraculous," as one doc said, given the vicious levels of inflammation I've experienced over the past 5 years. Yay!

Some important tips:

**investigate B-cell depletion therapy
**start doing yoga
**investigate Nanogreens---the best superfood ever
**investigate IV vitamin C and Linus Pauling's findings
**find an integrative MD who's open to alternatives
**work HARD at being relaxed and grateful for the simple fact of being alive---it's a miracle.
Really. Get out of your habits of worry and "oh, poor me" and "why me?"

Very hopeful! I've only been on minocycline for a short time, but the effect has been miraculous. Progress is slow, but steady. All body stiffness is gone; still working on hands and ankles, although both are improved from before. There have been no significant side effects; a little bit of dizziness in the beginning, but that is gone now.
very helpful My rheum.tried this treatment a few years ago for my fibro.and it has helped quite a bit. I do stop it once and a while.
very good It is my husband who has lupus. It took 4 years to diagnose it. He was on Plaquenil initially.
His antibiotic treatment began with 900 mg of Cleosin twice a day for 5 days. Then he started on 100 mg of mynocin twice a day. The first few days on the IV he felt sick, but we were told to expect that. Since then he has felt good. He has had no symptoms since June when he started on the antibiotic treatment. He eats yogurt once a day as a probiotic. He went off the Plaqenil about a month ago.
We live in Wisconsin and had to go to Iowa for the initial treatment. I wish more doctors would be willing to give it a try.

very good I have been on this treatment for 14 yrs. The only time I have had problems was when I was taking bipolar medications for my bipolar. Or when I had infected teeth. At those times my RA worsened so that my knees are now not what they were. I have trouble getting up and down from low chairs or the car. Otherwise I am pretty much trouble free. However I did get facial darkening (black spots) which I am having removed through laser therapy. Also my eyes have turned grey. Otherwise I find this a most successful treatment.
I don't know how I am going to handle the bipolar however.
valiantwoman70 Five years ago I was unable to walk or use my hands and arms without extreme pain. Now I can drive, swim, dance a little, and travel a lot. I even enjoy those DOWN days as I read and watch movies. Being retired does have advantages. I love working in the gardens and even celebrate when I feel up to scrubbing the floors!!
using minocycline in RA treatment Have complete remission with only one herxheimer reaction
Try Antibiotics - AND BE PATIENT! If you read my profile I have been on just about every conventional RA drug available. Most of them never worked. A few of them worked for a little while, then quit. After coming to this website I discovered Antibiotic Therapy and decided to investigate since my Rheumatologist had never suggested it. When I inquired he told me I'd be wasting my time and I needed to move to the next conventional, toxic drug. I decided to find another doctor experienced in Antibiotic Protocol and gave it a try almost 4 months ago. I read the book "The New Arthritis Breakthrough" and also visited the website ROADBACK.ORG which are both a wealth of information on AP. The Roadback folks informed me of a doctor in my area with AP experience. I've had RA for 20 years and already I feel about 35% better. This therapy is a VERY SLOW process and everyone who's been on it for years keeps reassuring me it will get better and better if I continue to hang in there, which I plan to do. What do I have to lose? Most of the other drugs never worked at all and had scary potential side effects. I'm thankful for REMEDYFIND for informing me of this therapy!! By the way, conventional rheumatologists generally don't give this therapy much credit. The four I've talked to that have experience said they give it 4-6 weeks or two months max. That's just not long enough. It could take a year or two, depending on how long you've had it to realize the full effect. But it has a good success rate according to AP pioneer Thomas Brown MD. I'll keep you posted on my progress.

Drug Uses

Minocin is used for treating certain infections. It may also be used with other medicines to treat severe acne, or for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to use

Use Minocin as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions. Some brands of Minocin may be taken with food. Others should be taken on an empty stomach. Check with your doctor or pharmacist about how to take your brand of Minocin.

Some brands of Minocin must be swallowed whole. Check with your doctor or pharmacist to see if your medicine is a brand that must be swallowed whole.

Take Minocin by mouth with or without food.

Take Minocin with a full glass of water (8 oz/240 mL). Do not lie down for 30 minutes after taking Minocin.

If you also take bismuth salts (eg, bismuth subsalicylate), calcium salts (eg, calcium carbonate), colestipol, iron salts (eg, iron sulfate), magnesium, urinary alkalinizers (eg, daily antacids), sucralfate, vitamins/minerals, quinapril, didanosine, or zinc salts (eg, zinc sulfate), do not take them within 2 to 3 hours before or after taking Minocin . Check with your doctor if you have questions.

To clear up your infection completely, take Minocin for the full course of treatment. Keep taking it even if you feel better in a few days. Minocin works best if it is taken at the same time each day.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Minocin is a tetracycline antibiotic. It works by slowing the growth of certain bacteria and allowing the body's immune system to kill them.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Minocin , take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
