Reviews/Feedback:
ZZZZZZZ Was prescribed Trazodone to combat Paxil-induced insomnia. My dr told me to start out with 50mg at bedtime, but I found out that 25mg at bedtime (cut the pill in half) did just as well. I only used traz occasionally as I was weaning off Paxil, because the less Paxil I took, the easier it was to sleep. I am off paxil now but because of anxiety, I have had to use traz a couple of times when I was too wound up (racing thoughts, whatever) to fall asleep normally. Trazodone never left me groggy in the morning, and I plan to keep a small "stash" of it for emergencies, since most sleeping pills have caused me to sleep straight through the next morning, which Trazodone doesn't.
zombie This is one of the few meds that made me feel like a zombie the next day. I would wake up feeling like I was hung over. I hated it!!
Would be great if not for sleepiness My psychiatrist put me on this for major depression after Celexa turned on me and stopped working. It's been a huge help. Only problems are: 1) It fades VERY quickly; four hours is about the most I get from it, and it wears off during sleep. 2) If I take a high-enough dose to stifle the depression, it makes me very sleepy. Luckily, I'm taking Ritalin for ADD, which helps counteract the sleepiness.
For this particular depressive episode, Trazodone has worked very well, with few side effects (sleepiness and some mild nightmares). If there were only an extended-release version!
Works.. but can't take side effects I have problems getting to sleep, and was prescribed Trazodone. While it does succeed in allowing me to fall asleep, I always wake up 4 hours after taking the dose. However, the real problem was the feeling it left me with the next day.. a general malaise and exhausted feeling. So, in the end it created more problems than it solved.
Works well for occasional sleep issues I use this when I'm stressed and know I'll be waking up at 3 AM otherwise. I also use it at 15-25 MG dose.
Works Well Except for some sexual side effects which wore off after a few weeks, Trazadone has worked well for me in combination with Lexapro to treat my depression and generalized anxiety. It helps me to get to sleep at night and enhances the SSRI quite well.
Works very well I have been taking 25mg at night for 5 days now for insomnia and anxiety with obsessive thoughts, in the past I took Remeron for 7 months and it didn't do for me in 7 months what this drug has in 5 days at just 25mg, good for insomnia and anxiety and excellent for obsessive thoughts. At 25mg only side effects are vivid dreams and a bad headache after taking it for the first time, no hangover effect for me, actually I feel more energized also had some restless legs but only on the first night. At 25mg its very cost effective, living in Calgary Canada this drug only costs me $20 for four months worth.
works right now So far so good. I took trazadone 7 years ago, and it worked then. I am giving it another try.
Works like a charm for anxiety/insomnia My docter prescribed Celexa and Xanax for anxiety/depression, and while my depression decreased, my anxiety and sleeplessness worsened. He the prescribed 100mg Trazadone to be taken at night before bed. My insomnia is GONE, and I get a great night's sleep. Additionally, my anxiety has decrased to the point where I have to take less Xanax.
works good for sleep Yes, it works good for sleep but I kinda have a hangover in the mornings and don't want to get up.
Works for sleep, but side effects (withdrawal?) I've taken trazodone for just over a month now. It has helped me get to sleep, but not stay asleep. It also makes me pretty tired the next day.

I started off with 10mg of Lexapro and 50mg of Trazodone. It worked really well for sleeping the first 3 weeks. After that, my doctor said to reduce the Trazodone to 25mg.

Here is a list of all the symptoms/side effects I’ve had:

FATIGUE
not so bad first 2 weeks, but has progressively gotten worse. I wake up exhausted and even a 50 minute lecture causes me to need a nap.

NUMBNESS
Started after first week, but got really bad after 3 weeks. My arms and legs feel like they aren't there, and my back and neck are also numb.

ZOMBIFICATION
Started during week 3 and has not gone away. I feel brain "zaps" almost as if my brain is shaking or vibrating. I have flat emotions and a DOESN'T MATTER attitude. I feel very disconnected and almost dead as if I'm just watching myself lay there.

HEADACHES and JAW CLENCHING
I don't know which one came first. I've always had headaches, but now they are migraines. The jaw clenching started and is causing my neck muscles to tighten and may cause more headaches.

ANXIETY
Just after the drug began working, it stopped working for anxiety. The whole day seems to be a constant worry.

OTHER MINOR
blurred vision, nausea, ears ringing, heightened senses, and heartburn

I'm not sure if all of these are from Lexapro, Trazodone, or just the reduction of Trazodone. Has anyone else lowered their dose of Trazodone and gotten similar results?
Works for me... I've been on trazadone for a couple years now. I just recently went up in dosage to 150mg. I do take another drug, alprazolam (xanax) to help me fall asleep. The trazadone helps KEEP me asleep. I dont notice any side-effects from it at all.
