Reviews/Feedback:
You've got to Try this I have just finished my initial trial of 30 mg Cymbalta for 60 days and now am increasing to 60 mg. I have made it through the dry mouth and am able to tolerate the extremely vivid dreams. This is a wonderful med. It doesn't take all of the pain away but it has decreased some of it.
You know when I started taking this medication when it first came out in 2004 I thought it was amazing. I thought I felt better and I thought I was dealing with life better. Now that I dumped all my pills down the toilet, because, I couldn't afford them and I was tired of being dependent on a pill, I feel so much better. On Cymbalta or any of the other depression pills I have been on I never really felt better. I thought I was better because the Doctors always told me, this will make you feel better. I have been on depression medication since I was 16 years old and I am now 28 (I couldn't remember what it was like to not be on a pill). Now that I am off my medication my suicidal thoughts have almost depleted. I don't feel so tired all the time and my IBS is going away. Not to say that depression medication does not help people, but, I can honestly say that I feel 10 times better being off of it than I did on it. I hope this helps someone.
yep yep i take cymbalta and wellbutrin for depression. took paxil first, since may 2001. when i switched i did not notice a major difference, but short temper is mostly gone as is crankiness, irritability, sadness, etc---maybe i should have hubby add to this?? lol,!!
Wow! Great drug! & no lasting sexual side effects! It's been a year, it's definately working. This by far has been a better year since I began it, and i'm going into my 2nd on it right now. The first day I started it I was nauseous, that went away the next day, I only got that again (and I know this is bad) was when I drink the previous night. Unlike some people, this is the only antidepresants I've ever tried. so I don't have any stories from hell of other experiences. I get Cymbalta for free since i'm a college student and can't really afford it on my own. So.. economically I odn't know about it. As far as sexual side effects, I had it for about 2 weeks and it went away. I reccommend anyone to try this out!
Works with pain also!!! I have not had any side effects at all.
Works well, but not on many insurance formulary! Tension in my face/jaw and upper chest/stomach intermittantly.

Most importantly, even my excellent insurance, PacifiCare, does not carry this drug on their formulary, nor is it even considered for Prior Authorization!

I cannot wait for this med to be in the form of a generic (what is it, usually 3 years before a generic can be made/marketed?).
works well help quite a bit. I have tried many other antidepressants this is the most helpful minimal side effects that went away quickly.
Works well for me I had tried Wellbutrin and thought it was helping for about 2 years then felt that it wasn't so the dosage was raised to the max of 450 mg a day. I got nauseous and the depression was getting worse.

I began to see a new psychiatrist and he recommended that I try Cymbalta since I suffer from Fibromyalgia and damage to my spine and also have arthritis. I was amazed at the relief of my depression over the first two weeks and by the end of the fourth week I felt a new me emerge. I did have some heartburn and a burning sensation in my sinus and throat but took pepcid complete for two weeks and those symptoms are totally gone.

I also started to slowly drop off weight that I had gained during the previous 4 years. I suppose this could be a problem for someone already underweight but for me it is a welcome side effect. The weight comes off slowly at about a pound a week and that has continued.

I can see a definite overall improvement in my well being. The pain is lightened somewhat and some of the neuropathy I was feeling has eased up.

Along with taking Cymbalta I see a therapist and am going to depression group therapy. This month I am also going to begin going to a pain group therapy which I know will help.
Works to reduce pain! Constant leg spasms cause me pain. Cymbalta has helped tremendously. Oh, it helps depression, too.
Works so far! This is the only antidepressant that has done anything for me, you may look at my profile for a longer description. The Dr. started me out with 60mg. twice a day, but after a week I started to get a headache or a knot feeling in the back of my head near my neck. I realized it was probably the amount of Cymbalta, so after talking with him I cut it back to 60mg in the a.m. and twice a week another 60mg in the p.m. because I smoke cigarettes. That took care of the headache-knot feeling
Works so far Cymbalta helps with the pain of my fibromalgia and the ibs. I have not had an ibs "attack" since taking the Cymbalta. I have had ibs for over a decade and taken lots of meds, none worked until Cymbalta. I hope it continues.
Works pretty well Cymbalta has been a dream for me in terms of my Eating Disorder, but a little bit less effexctive when it comes to my anxiety. It has helped me to calm down and open up to the idea of getting treatment. It helps me to get a better nights rest so I don't sit up all night bingeing and purging or worrying about this and that. As for the cost, I have good health insurance so its only a $20 dollar co-pay.

UPDATE! To anyone taking Cymbalta please get your AST, and ALT liver tests done frequently. I can no longer take Cymbalta because of this, but it was still a very helpful drug.

Drug Uses

Cymbalta is used for treating depression and generalized anxiety disorder. It is used for managing pain caused by diabetic peripheral neuropathy (DPNP). It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

How to use

Use Cymbalta as directed by your doctor. Check the label on the medicine for exact dosing instructions.

Take Cymbalta by mouth with or without food.
Swallow Cymbalta whole. Do not break, crush, or chew before swallowing. Do not open the capsule and sprinkle the contents on food or in liquid.
Take Cymbalta on a regular schedule to get the most benefit from it. Taking Cymbalta at the same time each day will help you remember to take it.
Continue to take Cymbalta even if you feel well. Do not miss any doses.
Drug Class and Mechanism

Cymbalta is a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SNRI). It works by restoring the balance of certain natural substances in the brain (serotonin and norepinephrine), which helps to improve certain mood problems.

Missed Dose

If you miss a dose of Cymbalta, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.

Storage

Store Cymbalta at 77 degrees F (25 degrees C). Brief storage between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 and 30 degrees C) is permitted. Store away from heat, moisture, and light. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep Cymbalta out of the reach of children and away from pets.
