Works for lowering LDL Has lowered my LDL and triglycerides to acceptable levels. Didn't do much for HDL. No side effects and my liver is fine so far, but I'm fairly young (34) and didn't have terribly high cholesterol to start with.

While on this medication my cholesterol levels decreased from 230 to 126 in about 4 months. However, i would suggest proper diet and following physicians orders to combat high cholesterol.
Was on Lipitor and then Zetia. Both had adverse side effects for me like muscle cramping and weakness. So far, after 3 weeks, no adverse reaction to Crestor.
Used Lipitor 10 years, muscle ache approached severe discomfort, very active guy, Asked for change, Crestor is a good fit, minimal aches, decent numbers. Use Zetia in addition, numbers better. No major discomfort using both. Good combination.
two weeks feel a lot better
this medication i have not notice anything yet i'am still take it more month to come
This medication has worked for me.
This has done an excellent job dropping my cholesterol levels from 216 down to around 130. I don't think I've had any of the side-effects that others have mentioned related to Crestor. I did have some lower back pain last year, but I don't think it had much to do with the drug, which I'd been taking for around a 1/2 year at that point, as with my laziness and lack of regular exercise. Some PT and regular exercise fixed that problem which has not returned since.
this drug work for me there is a but the only change that i have seen is my hair has gotten thin has broke tremendosley on the right side from five inches to one half inche and this is the only drug change that i have had in years thats why i feel that this is where my hair problem is
the medication does what it is supposed to do, but i get muscle cramps in both of my calfs all the time.

Drug Uses

Crestor is an HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor (also known as a "statin"), used with a proper diet to help lower cholesterol and fat (triglyceride) levels and to raise good cholesterol (HDL) levels in your blood.

How to use

Follow the directions for using this medicine provided by your doctor. This medicine may be taken on an empty stomach or with food. Do not take antacids for at least 2 hours after taking this medicine. This medicine should be taken regularly to get the most benefit from it. Taking this medicine at the same time each day will help you remember. It is important to continue taking this medicine even if you feel well. Most people with high cholesterol or triglycerides do not feel sick.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Crestor is an oral drug for lowering blood cholesterol levels. It belongs to a class of drugs, called HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors, more commonly referred to as "statins". Other drugs in this class include simvastatin (Zocor), lovastatin (Mevacor), pravastatin (Pravachol), atorvastatin (Lipitor) and fluvastatin (Lescol). These drugs reduce cholesterol levels by inhibiting HMG-CoA reductase, an enzyme that produces cholesterol in the liver. Crestor and other statins lower blood total cholesterol as well as blood LDL cholesterol levels. LDL cholesterol is the "bad" type of cholesterol that increases the risk of coronary artery disease (atherosclerosis) and heart attacks. Lowering LDL cholesterol levels slows the progression of coronary artery disease and may even reverse it. Statins also increase HDL cholesterol, the "good" type of cholesterol, and reduce triglycerides.
