Reviews/Feedback:
Went to walk-in clinic for extremely painful finger because of a hangnail that I tore. After 10 days nail is still sore to touch. In the beginning I had stomach upsets and diareah, however subsided at the present. This morning woke up with a small dark vaginal dischage which scared me as I haven't had my period for over 17 years. Going to doctor on Monday to check.
Was taking for a eye lid infection. 500 mg 3x day for month. Stomach cramps early but was gone in few days. Caused a rash across my chest, and had itching and rash on privates.
Was in the ER with a severe kidney infection and kidney stones, one which was in my ureter. They sent me home with Cipro which apparently my body/ the bacteria causing my infection is resistant to. So they put me on cephalexin. I've only been on it for four days so far, 500mg 3x a day and I haven't had any problems, really. Slight bouts of dizziness every now and then but nothing major. I have noticed the gassy/wierd/foul-smelling bowel movements that were mentioned once on here, but nothing to complain about seeing as how every time I get a kidney infection I get constipated. So it actually helps in a wierd way. So, no real complaints so far, hoping I don't run into this skin condition most are complaining about. I make sure I keep my fluid intake way up and eat something when I take it, which seems to work for me.
this medcine makes me very sick and makes me have to burp alot
Started using this product about 5 days ago for ingrown hair on my rear end. Taking 500 MG every 6 hours. Is helping my infection problem but I have developed sever thigh aching in both legs to the point that it is about to drive me crazy. Never had my thighs ache in my life. They get aching so bad that I cannot get them comfortable at all, even when I go to bed, absolutely terrible. I am NOT positive that it is the Cephalexin but have only been getting these aches since beginning the product 5 days ago. After reading the posts here, I am quitting the medication right now as I am nearly ready to go to the hospital and have a ultrasound done on my legs. Can't afford that!!!! My lower back is also killing me all of a sudden... Thank you for all the posts!
pre-dental treatment
My doc prescribed this med because I had a severe sinus infection. My blood pressure was extremely high 210/100 (never before bothered with HBP) and a constant pounding headache. In conjunction with the BP med I am now taking I feel much better. The only problem I'm experiencing is light headedness which I believe to be the result of the BP med. Thank God, I have not experienced any of the negative side effects offered by others and I never noticed the smell until after reading others comments (I don't make a habit of smelling meds). I wish the best for all of us on this med, thanks for sharing.
My dentist prescribed this medication prior to a scheduled root canal? I have had some minor side affects - mild diahrea, mild dizziness. Anyone else had these side affects? Als
Medication is working effectively but having severe side effects such as; severe leg cramps that feel like I have exercised my butt off but minus the exercise. My body feels as though I have the SWINE FLU but do not. Stomach feels as though my insides are wanting to crawl out of my body and that is putting it mildly. There is so much wrong that I would be here for days telling you. The person or persons that made up this so called drug I prefer to it as poison anyway they should be locked up in a room fed this medication and left there to experience what so many of us are or have. ( Such a torture to go through from having a tooth infection) REALLY!!!!!!! If I have misspelled any of this I'm telling you its the medication!!!LOL Its soooo not funny really!!!!!!
It causes me nausea, dizziness, & diarrea, but it seems to be working fast. Woke with a very swollen salisbury gland. Most swelling receeded within 12 hours of use.
I'm treating a long standing sinus infection and it's gone gone gone. Happy! But now at day 10 I have a severe itching and rash from the anus to the opening of the urethra. Going to have to stop it. Had no other problems.
I'm currenty taking 1 500 mg 3 x a day (10 days) for sinus & broncotis infection. Only on day 4 but all seems to be moving along okay - much better with it than without I suppose. I just hope it keeps workimg without problems - so far so good

Drug Uses

Cephalexin is used to treat infections, caused by bacteria that are susceptible to the effects of cephalexin. Common infections that are treated with cephalexin include infections of the middle ear, tonsils, throat, larynx (laryngitis), bronchi (bronchitis) and pneumonia. It also is used for treating urinary tract, skin and bone infections.

How to use

The dose of cephalexin for adults is 1 to 4 grams in divided doses. Children are treated with 25-100 mg/kg/day in divided doses.

Drug Class and Mechanism

Cephalexin belongs to a class of antibiotics, called cephalosporins. They are similar to penicillin in action and side effects. They stop or slow the growth of bacterial cells by preventing bacteria from forming the cell wall that surrounds each cell. The cell wall protects bacteria from the external environment and keeps the contents of the cell together. Without a cell wall, bacteria are not able to survive. Bacteria that are susceptible to cephalexin include Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Haemophilus influenzae, E. coli and several others.
