Younger sibling My younger brother has high-functioning autism and OCD. For a while, he was on Prozac to ease the nervous energy associated with the disorders, but that didn't work terribly well. He has been on Celexa for around a year now, and I've noticed that he's less irritable and far less likely to go into a round of verbal tics than he was while on Prozac. He does seem to be sleeping more since he's been on Celexa, though, but that may be because he's 16.

worth waiting It took me about 1.5 months to get up to an "effective" dose of Celexa--I started at 5 mg, and had plenty of side effects that have completely gone away now. I had very bad insomnia at first, and have now weaned off the ambien that I was taking to combat that. It also made me very nauseous at first, which has also gone away. It has helped with my anxiety tremendously. If you try this and have an increase in anxiety at first--this is normal. Try to stick it out if you can manage. Also, adding a benzo for the first month can be really helpful--you won't get addicted if you're smart about using them as needed. This drug has really helped my depression and anxiety. It's also worth noting that it has, if anything increased my sex drive and made sex more enjoyable & anxiety free. I also have not gained any weight at all.
Works, but aint cheap Cheap Celexa doesn't exsist. I tried our Texas state mental health service (MHMR). They have a graduated payment system that is manageable. For example, a person making 40k per yr pays about 55 a month. Someone making less pays little or nothing. This includes all doctors visits and all meds. Swallowing pride was the first step.
After getting out of chemical dependency
treatment ( 2 1/5 yrs ago) this drug was prescribed. It works great for depression and anxiety. I experience some nausea, and an awful ringing in the ears, but the alternative is worst.
WORKS WORKS FOR ME
works well.
Works well, but sexual side effect risk Celexa and (lexapro) have both been very helpful for me, however, it wasn't until I decreased the doseage and added Wellbutrin that I felt a real improvement overall. The celexa alone caused sexual side effects. The Wellbutrin solved that problem and also helped to "wake me up". Fatigue is a big problem with my depression
works well with no side effects
Works well but loses effectiveness over time I was first put on Celexa 4 years ago for severe depression/anxiety and chronic insominia. I started on 10mg and within the first week I noticed I was very tired but in a relaxed way, as opposed to fatigued from stress and constant anxiety and could finally sleep better (my primary sleep issue was not sleeping for days at a time over a period of 4 months). Within the next month or so I upped the dosage to 20mg and maintained that dose for about a year. However, I noticed every year I would relapse into bouts of major depression again and would have to increase the dosage every 10mg. My psychiatrist said this occurs with every antidepressant that they generally lose effectiveness over time, so I just went with it. After being on 40mgs for a year and half or so, I was feeling fine with life and finally thinking I was ready to go off. Withiout the supervision of a doctor, I decreased my dosage by about 10mgs every week until I reached 10mgs and then stopped. I suffered really bad side effects so decided to go back on 10mg for another 2 weeks, and then split the pill into 5mg, and over the next few weeks proeceeded to shave off bits of the 5mg at a time until there was nothing left! Even after all these gradual decreasing, I suffered from extreme dizziness, fatigue, extreme irratibility and anger, blurred vision and headaches. Eventually these went away after 2 months, but then my chronic insomnia came back (which went away on the AD, but I still had to take Zaleplon the night before an exam) and eventually my depression came back as well due to lack of sleep and many external stressful life events. I really wanted to get off my medication because I was so sick of being dependant on it for so long. After about 9 months of suffereing and refusal to go back on medication (i tried many alternative natural therapies instead which did not work for me because I was severly depressed) I opted to go back on because I could no
WORKS IM HAPPY
works great,, the only problem is no ability to achieve an orgasm.. big problem
Works great I have been on Celexa for years. I am BPI. I experience no side effects at all. No weight gain. Even though Lexapro is the newer version, and I have been on that and it works just as well, the Celexa is on my preferred list and Lexapro is not-just too expensive.
