Reviews/Feedback:
Well I guess compared to the rest of you guys I've been pretty lucky. The only side effects I have had are a slight headache, little bit of dizzyness, and loss of appetite. Other than that I'm perfectly fine. All my side effects are very mild.
Twice this year I have developed severe staph/strep infections around my mouth (I'm immune supressed). The first time I was on a different antibiotic for 17days which didn't make any difference before we switched to bactrim. Within days I started looking human again. This time its worked just as fast, although I've been very nauseous. I've extremely sensitive to side-effects so its surprising I haven't gotten a worse reaction. Even so, it works well enough to be worth it, imo. (I've also been using Altabax for the staph/strep)
tratamiento para esta bacteria medicina de que miligramos y en que frecuencia se toma.
Thumbs up!
This Rx has cleared up my MRSA but has made me nauseous and have a terribly dry mouth. No matter how much water I drink my mouth still feels dry and gritty. But my MRSA is gone and the related incision is nearly healed.
this medication worked very well for me.I took it while i had several bouts of MRSA very serious infected abcsess that greatly affected my health.This medication worked very well for me and only expierenced slight nausia while taking it.
THis is my first day of taking this med for a piercing i had surgically removed from my chest. So far i'm experiencing nausea,slight chills, blurred vision and a slight headache. Not sure if i want to continue to take this due to the fact i work two jobs and can't afford to feel sick all the time. We'll see how this goes. But as of right now i'm not liking this medication.
the staph sucked but the meds got rid of it
the pills are big so its hard to swallow , so i cut mine up to make it easier
sulpha drugs work for ibs I used sulpha drugs for a few years for my ibs. they helped. But it took a long time for them to become effective.
Prescribed for topical infection of knee after Knee Replacement. Two pills twice a day. Ok for the first days, but after 7 days started to get fever, itchy rash, sluggish. Will not take again.
Over the past year I have developed several MRSA positive skin abcesses. This medication has been used to treat it each time, and been mostly effective as long as the abscess is addressed in a timely manner. It is unfortunate that so many posting appear to have had previously unknown allergies, but I would urge others not to avoid this drug due to a few "bad reviews." It has always been safe and effective, and I have even used it safely to treat the same condition in my infant son. Your doctors aren't trying to kill you...their trying to help so lets all stop assuming we know more than they do, and let them do there jobs for a change.

Do not use Bactrim if:

you had a severe allergic reaction to any other sulfonamide (sulfa) medicine (eg, glipizide, hydrochlorothiazide);
you are taking dofetilide;
you have anemia caused by low levels of folate in the blood or urinary blockage;
you are in week 38 of pregnancy or later (full-term) or you are breast-feeding;

Contact your doctor or health care provider right away if any of these apply to you.

Important :
Bactrim may cause you to become sunburned more easily. Avoid the sun, sunlamps, or tanning booths until you know how you react to Bactrim. Use a sunscreen or wear protective clothing if you must be outside for more than a short time.
Contact your doctor right away if stomach pain or cramps, severe diarrhea, or bloody stools occur. Do not treat diarrhea without first checking with your doctor.
Be sure to use Bactrim for the full course of treatment. If you do not, the medicine may not clear up your infection completely. The bacteria could also become less sensitive to this or other medicines. This could make the infection harder to treat in the future.
Bactrim only works against bacteria; it does not treat viral infections (e.g., the common cold).
Long-term or repeated use of Bactrim may cause a second infection. Tell your doctor if signs of a second infection occur. Your medicine may need to be changed to treat this.
Diabetes patients - Bactrim may affect your blood sugar. Check blood sugar levels closely. Ask your doctor before you change the dose of your diabetes medicine.
Use Bactrim with extreme caution in children younger than 10 years old who have diarrhea or an infection of the stomach or bowel.
Bactrim may interfere with certain lab tests. Be sure your doctor and lab personnel know you are taking Bactrim.
Lab tests, including complete blood cell counts and kidney function tests, may be performed while you use Bactrim . These tests may be used to monitor your condition or check for side effects. Be sure to keep all doctor and lab appointments.
Pregnancy and breast-feeding: If you become pregnant, contact your doctor. You will need to discuss the benefits and risks of using Bactrim while you are pregnant. Do not use Bactrim if you are in week 38 of pregnancy or later (full-term). Bactrim is found in breast milk. Do not breast-feed while taking Bactrim.
