Works well for mild COPD I use Atrovent for my mild COPD (not asthma -- sorry, there's no category for COPD) and it works fairly well for this purpose... I definitely notice freer breathing after using it. I think most people with asthma will be using either Combivent or one of the beta agonists that are immediately acting, since Atrovent will not relieve an asthma attack that is in progress. It takes some time to work (seems like about 5 to 10 minutes or so in my case).
very satisfied with med
This has totally changed my life! I'm one of those rare asthmatics for whom ventolin doesn't work. It worked when I was a kid, but stopped working about a year ago -- now it just gives me nasty paliptations. I struggled terribly with the asthma for about 6 months, until a doctor suggested atrovent. it works really well for me, and has no side effects! I don't think it's the right drug for everyone (some people find it not very effective), but if you're having trouble with ventolin, I highly recommend trying it. Before I started the atrovent I often had trouble walking even a couple of blocks, but now I'm back to walking and biking everywhere.
the only thing i didn"t like was my throat was very dry & i had very little voice. So i am trying it again.
My 8 year old was having a severe asthma attack and nothing would get it under control. I took him to the doctor and they gave him 2 breathing treatments of Atrovent. It cleared up right away. The doctor was really hesitant about writing me a script for it, but after we went home and that night his asthma got worse, he gave me the script in the hospital. So far it has helped extremely well. There hasn't been any wheezing and he is doing great. I mix it with Albuterol twice a day just for that extra boost and re-assurance, then give it to him twice a day by itself. It is quite expensive, but worth it.
It helps My doctor put me on atrovent because she doesn't want me on multiple antihistamines and I also have mechanical and chemical induced rhinitis. The atrovvent is supposed to address that. It helps but I still have bad seasons and near constant post nasal drip. I'm much worse without using tho.
Ipratropium Bromide Nasal Spray/Atrovent This nasal spray works real well for my post nasal drip. It seems to dry my nose out too much, but that is one of the only side effects I have noticed. Overall, am real pleased with this medication.
I just started taking this medication a couple of days ago. So far, it has been fine, no side effects that are severe and my breathing has improved greatly. My only concern is that I have a slight burning in my upper chest like that of a chest cold. THis occurs right after taking the medication. I am also experiencing a dry cough that can get quite persistant but seems to be alievated when using a cough drop.
I have used Atrovent for at least the last ten years, every day of my life. Without it I would have to be antisocial. It allows me to do my everyday activities without my runny nose spoiling my life. I use it once maybe twice a day and have never had any side effects. I bless the day my Dr. finally gave me this one to try, none of the others helped a bit.
I have non allergic or vasomotor rhinitis. I constantly had kleenex with me wherever I went. The cold weather made my nose run, eating made my nose run, drinking made my nose run, exercise....you get the picture. Atrovent cured my runny nose, it is fantastic! I will never stop using it. I never have kleenex with me anymore. I use less then prescribed otherwise it will give me a sore throat and make my nose feel dry. 2 sprays each nostril in the morning and 1 in the afternoon is all it takes. It dries my eyes out though and I already have chronic dry eye syndrome so thats the only down side.
i have been using atrovent for a year and it is great my life has really changed
I have a chronic runny nose - drips like water. This dries my nose up great. I tried Flonase and that did not work for me.
